Gainesville, the seat of
Ozark County, is within a 15-mile radius of Bull Shoals Lake, Norfork
Lake and the Arkansas border. It is served by State Highways 5 and
181, and US Highway 160, about 80 miles southeast of Springfield.
Bull Shoals and Norfork lakes have become popular
vacation playgrounds. Bull Shoals and Norfork lakes are known for
their excellent fishing, the lakes are ideal for swimming, pleasure
boating, water skiing, tubing, canoeing, sailing, scuba diving and sun
bathing. Canoeing is also a popular year-round sport in area
waterways, although it's most popular from April to October.
Ozark County's famous historic mills include Rockbridge Mill, which
has been restored as the Grist Mill. Dawt Mill houses a gift shop and
canoe outfitter, and offers campsites, a hotel, convention center and
restaurants. |
